For some bizarre reason Richard E. Grant’s portrayal of Withnail only ranks number 15 in TotalFilm.com’s list of 50 Greatest Movie Drunks. The site goes on to say that:

“Withnail lives on a diet of booze and pills. Which understandably makes him into something of a hot-blooded chap, though he’s got the heart of a poet.”

As far as the tipple of choice goes, the site adds “Any tipple will do. Especially when paired up with pills.”

At the end of the day I suppose it’s better to be included in the list than to miss out completely. Then again we do tend to be a little biased here at The Temple.

“The Iron Lady” is released across the US from December 30th, and the UK from January 6th, 2012. It is a look at the life of Margaret Thatcher (Meryl Streep), the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, with a focus on the price she paid for power.
