South African actor Richard E Grant will feature in a movie about Ralph Steadman’s life and work alongside Johnny Depp and Terry Gilliam, among others.

The new trailer released for the much-awaited film For No Good Reason confirms the rumours that South African actor Richard E Grant will feature in this star-studded account of Ralph Steadman’s life and work alongside Johnny Depp and Terry Gilliam, amongst others.

Scheduled for a 2012 release, the film documents the life and work of Ralph Steadman, a British artist whose style you will recognise from his collaborative projects with American author Hunter S Thompson in works such as Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Steadman’s distinctive illustrative and caricature style has been favoured by artists including Johnny Depp, Will Self and Ted Hughes and he has lent his penmanship to old favourites such as Alice in Wonderland, Treasure Island and even the unsettling Animal Farm.

Richard E Grant (the ‘E’ stands for Esterhuysen) was born in Swaziland to South African parents and completed graduate studies at the University of Cape Town. He began his acting career in Cape Town and later moved to London, making his debut in film with the cult film Withnail & I. He has subsequently acted in a number of different films ranging from the popular to the esoteric, with his most recent roles seeing him play Vic Van Wrinkle in Horrid Henry: The Movie and Michael Heseltine in the up-coming film about Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady.
