REG As A Rogue Male?

October10

Jenny kindly sent this in from TV Times magazine (2nd Oct)

“He was the swashbuckling hero in sex and chopping series The Scarlet Pimpernel – and now Richard E Grant is to play another heroic aristocrat role in the TV mini series adaption of Geoffrey Household’s classic adventure thriller Rogue Male. Set in the mid-thirties, the stories centre on captain Robert Thorndyke who heads for Berlin to assassinate Hitler. When he fails, he’s hunted by the Gestapo and retreats to a man made warren of tunnels in a forest and then plots his fight back.

Already filmed twice – once in 1941 under the title Manhunt with Walter Pidgeon as Thorndyke and then under its original title in 1976 with Peter O’Toole as the lead – the new adaption has been serialised for the BBC in three one hour episodes. Dalziel and Pascoes’ Warren Clarke has been earmarked to play the head of the Gestapo.

Filming will take place in and around Austria next spring, with studio work on Prague. Expect broadcast late next year.”
