London Meet-Up – 16th May 2003

May16

Jenna, Sarah, Joan and Denise meet up in London to eat, drink, take some photos and talk about all things REG! Denise and Joan comment on the night.

Denise: Set out for meal from flat and it was raining! A truly fated evening that actual went okay. I was a bit late because Rosemary phoned me with best wishes and apologies for not attending, during conversation I turned right instead of left – then had to confess to being lost and needing to double-check where I was! A to Z out, glasses on, whilst holding brolly – couldn’t have remained on phone as well.

Joan, Sarah and Jenna share a few.

When we finally got together – a cosy foursome – we had a good evening, took some photos, then the Maître d’ took some and at one point another customer took one – he did offer! At end of meal Jenna produced some Finnish chocolate sweets – they were sort of hazelnut truffle – quite sweet. She also brought some really nice liquorice.

Jenna with the sweets she kindly brought over to share with us.

At end of evening Sarah and Jenna went to Baker Street Station for their trains and Joan decided to walk me back to Leicester Square. In the square I pointed out REG’s handprints as this was where Jolie and I were going to meet up (it seemed an appropriate place).

For people who mostly hadn’t met face-to-face before we seemed to have an awful lot to say! Shame about the weather, the people who couldn’t make it and the fact that the bar Joan and I tried on way home was closing – still I had a good evening ladies and look forward to meeting you again one day :-)

I think my hair affected by weather lol. Decided on trousers instead of red silk skirt so I could wear my boots AND socks – on basis that if my feet were warm I’d be okay. Walking along rain spattered pavements in white trousers leaping puddles was an interesting experience ;-) An article recently stated only celebs should wear white trousers as they travel everywhere by cab – some people just like to spoil others fun :-)

Joan: I can also say that it was a very nice evening on the 16th for the REGiment meal – it was pouring down with rain though which was a shame as we sat at a table in the window and it would have been nice if the sun had been shining and we had the windows open – oh well, it didn’t put a damper on the evening at all. I enjoyed the food myself – it was all done very nicely. I seemed to have liked the food better than the rest from what they have reported but have to admit that part of it could be the fact that I had been working all day and only had a quick sandwich at lunch and was starving or either I am easily pleased!

We also met Michael Moore himself when we arrived and he was chatting to us and I said "who are you" and he said "Michael Moore – I own the restaurant". He was very pleasant and said he would come out to see us later but we left around 10ish so he was probably still in the kitchen by then.

We had a fun time. Of course the main topic was Richard and it was lovely to talk to our hearts content about our gorgeous man! I think a few people in the restaurant were amused I think at our avid interest in one person – also we were looking at photos of him and the REGiment photo from the Orange Tree was in the middle of the table in one picture! So ladies any time you are in London again it would be a pleasure to meet you all again – shame the others didn’t make it in the end though.

Joan and Denise walked back to flat near Leicester Square and checked out the handprints commemorating "Keep the Aspidistra Flying". It was around midnight by the time these photos were taken.
