Gosford Park and A Beautiful Mind have been named as the best original and adapted screenplays of 2001 respectively by the Writers Guild of America (WGA). Both films have been nominated in the same categories for the Academy Awards on 24 March.

There was also a “behind the scenes” look at Gosford Park today on the Bravo Channel (US). It was about 30 minutes in length and had interviews with some of the cast members. Richard wasn’t interviewed – in fact he was hardly shown onscreen! One of the cast members mentioned that the film had stars in even the smallest parts and that it was like a painting. There was something of value in every corner – not just focused on a few main characters in the spotlight.

A recent issue of the movie magazine “Filmink” talks about Oscar nominations and includes Gosford Park (obviously.) There’s also supposed to be something on Julian Fellowes and a page looking at Altman’s ensemble films.
