Denise tells me that Richard popped up on Channel 4’s Spice Girls on film yesterday wearing the striped top. He was captioned “A Friend” and was very complimentary about the girls – down to earth approach and ability to prove critics wrong.

Fortunately for Denise she had Sky installed this Xmas (and now she has lots more channels with nothing worth watching!) and as she channel surfed she managed to catch the end of Hudson Hawk.

Denise also said:

“Someone asked about Victoria Wood. REG appeared in two sketches. The first a take-off of Jane Austen “role” – a batman to Alan Rickman’s General at Waterloo. The second was a take-off of ER set in WI (that’s the Woman’s Institue) complete with American accents. REG played Godfrey – a man whose rhurburb persererve fails to make the grade and is forced to gatecrashing the jumble sale topless, donning a large hat with lipstick smeared around mouth and branish knitting needles! Has to be seen to be fully appreciated!”

Guess they will repeat in summer!

Here are some pics of REG rubbing shoulders with other celeb types at a benefit dinner for the Theatre and Body & Soul “Hamlet” at the young Vic. One pic is with Adrian Lester and the other is with the lovely Emma Bunton.

REG was apparently very good on Victoria Wood. He was in two of her sketches – One in which he was a soldier during a war, (which I’m told caused many a REGiment member to drool) and the other was about the WI and he wanted to get in – Dressing up rather like a hooker-type woman, with barely any clothes on and huge red lips painted on his mouth. Intruiging!
