Christmas In Tinseltown Upwardly Mobile

December21

Rosemary writes:

“This is a very serious complaint – did any of the TV mags say that the program “Christmas In Tinseltown” – which was shown on Channel 4 (UK), Wednesday – was narrated by REG. NO they did NOT! So when we switched on half-way through, I was very cross to recognise THE voice immediately! His name was in the closing titles as the narrator, as if I needed telling!

With many disconsolate sighs – Rosemary”

Sounds like some asses need kicking, Rosemary!

Jolie has also sent me an article written by REG in a magazine recently titled “Upward Mobility”. You can read that article here. Thanks very much for that, Jolie.

And on Wednesday night Denise, Elaine and Emma ventured forth to London to see a play called “The Play What I Wrote”. Expect some reports from the girls on the site shortly.

A Festive REG Recipe From Pat & Malfoy Versus Sirius

December19

“Hi, all. Just send this recipe to a board at AOL. Since REG said one of his comfort foods is fruitcake or anything with raisins, I thought that I’d share it with you guys too.
Pat.”

Don’t look the the words and get turned off. This cookie is very much a cookie and not a fruitcake.

Cream: 1/2 cup butter or margarine with 1 cup of dark brown sugar Add: 4 well beaten eggs. Sift together in a separate bowl: 1/2 tsp nutmeg 3 cups flour 1 tsp baking soda Combine: 1 teaspoon vanilla 3 tablespoons sour cream 3 tablespoons sherry or orange juice Add alternately to butter mixture with the shifted dry ingredients. Mix together: 1/2 cup flour 2 cups chopped nuts 1 pound white raisins 1 pound of fruit cake fruit mix. Mix together all ingredients and chill overnight.

Preheat oven to 325 degrees . Drop batter by teaspoons on a greased cookie sheets. Top with a cherry half or nut. Bake 15 minutes. These may be frozen. Yes I know it’s a long involved recipe, but it is very good. Many folks who I know and don’t like fruitcake like these. But be warned the recipe make a lot of cookies.

On other matters there have been rumours that a dyed blonde Ralph Fiennes has been strutting around the set of the next Harry Potter film as Lucius Malfoy! Other sources put Kenneth Branagh as playing the role. What IS known is, as REG told us in his responses recently, that the casting is complete for Harry Potter – so I guess that lets REG out of it.

Then again there’s always the role of Sirius Black to consider? Let’s face it, he’s a good guy, a complex character, very much like REG and probably very important in the books to come, so a much more important and visible role than Malfoy or some of the others would have – and thus, more screentime for REG!!!

So send those “REG for Sirius” petitions in now!

Sorry this is so late but Pat informs me that while she was looking through her newspapers’ TV magazine she noticed that “A Christmas Carol” is on tonight at 9:00pm on TNT (US cable TV). If you get this in time and can get TNT, then you’ll get to see some REG.

Also if anyone’s interested, there are REG pics in the following publications:

12-18 November 2001 (Variety Weekly)
22 November 2001 #291 OK! Mag
29 November 2001 #292 OK! Mag
27 November 2001 #690 Hello Mag
Dec/Jan 2002 US Premiere Mag

The Hello & OK Mags are still on the shelves over there in Singapore, according to Jolie, so if anyone needs help on getting these, feel free to drop a note.
