Welcome To The REG Temple
The REG Temple is the official website for actor, author and director Richard E. Grant.
Richard has appeared in over 80 films and television programs, such as Withnail And I, The Scarlet Pinmpernel, Jack & Sarah, L.A. Story, Dracula, The Hound Of The Baskervilles, Gosford Park & The Iron Lady. In 2005 he directed his first major release, Wah-Wah.
This website is unique in that it has been run and maintained by volunteers and fans since 1998. For more information on its origins, please click here.

A couple of new articles are up on the site. They’re just short little “snippets” really. The first one is from The Guardian Weekend Magazine (27th April, 2002) which you can read here and the second is from yesterday’s Daily Mail which you can read here.
There’s also the trailer for “The Portrait Of A Lady” which is new to the site. You’ll find that under “Trailers” in the Filmography section.

The Daily Mail – 22nd May, 2002

With the false modesty that is the hallmark of his profession, actor Richard E. Grant, pictured, describes himself as “tall and skinny like a scarecrow, looking like an undertaker unless I smile.” But he’s admired by the Queen’s couturier Sir Hardy Amies.
Mr Grant says 92-year-old Sir Hardy rang to congratulate him on his “marvellous physique” – and, gratis, made him a blue velvet number, normally costing around £ 8,000.

After a week or so of organizing the film reviews are finally up. There are at least one or two reviews of most of Richard’s films including a really cool audio review of The Little Vampire. The review actually slams the movie but it’s still pretty cool having an audio version of it.
I’ve also updated the general Filmography section to include some of Richard’s more recent works.
The site is going through a major refit and well needed update in terms of behind-the-scenes functionality. This “backstage” work will help to assist in the enhancement of the more interactive content of the website, as we have a lot of new and exciting things planned. There’s still a fair way to go on this though, and each section will be tackled in due course.

For those U.K. REGimentals: If you’re quick you might be able to snap up a hardcover copy of Richard’s book “By Design” for the bargain basement price of £2.99 at “The Works”. Just have a hunt around the next time you’re at a shopping center.
If anyone is interested in listening to some tracks (possibly before buying) from the Gosford Park soundtrack then all you need to do is point your browsers here and you can hear some samples. The CD costs £10.99 (plus p&p).
You can also pre-order the DVD from Amazon.co.uk at this link here.

OK, the “REGimental Exclusive Interview, Number 4” is now up on the website. You can read that here.
There has been speculation as to whether REG will be on Lulu’s “An Audience With…” ( to be shown later today on Brit TV) and at the Beckham’s party (to be shown on a program on ITV tomorrow). I emailed Richard about both events and he replied:
“Was invited to the Beckhams, but actually landed in Cape Town on Sunday 12th May, the day of the party, to start the ‘Napoleon’ flick. Ditto the ‘Lulu’ absence.”
So there ya go. Straight from the horse’s mouth!
Just a bit more on the Napoleon film, though. As Richard tells us in the latest REGimental Interview:
“I am currently shooting ‘Monsieur N’ about Napoleon’s last year on St. Helena. I’m playing the English governor, Sir Hudson Lowe who was accused of poisoning the emperor. A complete bastard role and very enjoyable to do.”
So we now have a name for it – Or a “working title” at least! The film is currently shooting in Cape Town and Paris until mid August.
