Two “New” REG Sightings (From Last Year)

May15

Some more REG sightings from late last year. The first was sourced by both Joan and Jolie and is about the Celebrity Pub Quiz that REG did for the National Deaf Children’s Society. There’s quite a few pics but unfortunately most of them are tiny “preview” pics courtesy of the Rex Features website. Anyhow you can see and read about the event here.

The second sighting is some pics of Richard doing his Christmas shopping in London’s West End. You can see them here, courtesy of SueW.

Restaurant Awards & New Years Day

May14

SueW. sent me a REG sighting from March this year. There’s not a lot of information along with it but it’s a presentation REG did for the Tio Pepe Carlton London Restaurant Awards which were held at Le Meridien Grosvenor House in Park Lane. You can see that here.

While surfing myself I found a snippet of a piece about Richard’s appearance at the premiere of the film “New Year’s Day” which occurred way back in October 2001. It comes with a cool pic of REG! You can see that here.

REG Writes His TV CV…..Then Goes Wah Wah

May13

Two new articles are now on the site. The first is from earlier this year and appeared in the Radio Times magazine. It’s a one-page “TV CV” of REG – written by the man himself – and you can read that here. Thanks to Joann for sending this one in!

The second article I AM sure about because I tracked it down myself. It dates from September 2000 and comes from the Empire Online site. It’s titled “Withnail Goes Wah Wah” and you can read it here.

Withnail And I Tribute Album

May10

Alan Gubby (Jung Collective) has spent the last 14 months communicating & negotiating with EMI, David Dundas & Rick Wentworth (original soundtrack composers) to produce new ambient, electronic and dance versions of the music from “Withnail & I” – also featuring dialogue from the film (and hopefully artwork by Ralph Steadman)! This will culminate in a CD album project featuring musical contributions from several cutting edge and esteemed UK producers. The project is intended as a homage to Bruce Robinson’s comic masterpiece and testament to why the film remains so influential to musicians in the UK.

Details of the project below:

Marwood Walks 2003 Theme from “Withnail And I”.

Produced by Alan Gubby
Composed by David Dundas & Rick Wentworth
Published by EMI Music Publishing

Versions of the music from cult 1980’s movie “Withnail & I”, starring Richard E. Grant and Paul McGann.

Remember Uncle Monty? Danny? The Irish Pub? Everyone has a favourite moment from this hilarious and touching film.

“Marwood Walks” is the acoustic theme that follows Paul McGann from the squalor of 1960’s Camden to Monty’s farm in the Lake District.

Current CD features 4 brand new mixes:

Jung Collective Percussion Rehash
Jung Collective Chilled Rehash
Buff Plaza Electro Melody Mix
Eulogize Trans-European Mix

Regarded as a British cinema classic, “Withnail & I” has gained mythic status amongst DJ’s, musicians & counter culture for it’s frenzied portrayal of drug and alcohol abuse by 2 unemployed actors at the end of an era.

So imagine the smiles of recognition when these versions kick in!

Vid / promo possibilities are endless: Original actors in the Jag, Marwood trying to find Withnail, searching for an illegal party or some peace of mind in the country.

Conceived by leftfield electronic producer Alan Gubby (Jung Collective) who has secured the approval of original composers David Dundas & Rick Wentworth and recording rights from EMI to release the tracks in 2003.

So something to look out for there – especially if you’re into electronic music (cause, as we already know, everybody here is into Withnail And I so that’s just taken for Grant-ed!)
