Drama (violence-hungry producer)
Phil Collins (Buster, Frauds) stars as thriller writer Jackson Dover who creates a femme fatale character (Calliope) who comes to life and takes on his critics in the short film, Calliope.
Combining different filmic styles, Calliope takes the film-within-a-film-within-a-film premise to an extreme and explores the borders between fiction and reality whilst making comments on the industry and violence in modern entertainment.
Co-starring in Calliope are Martin Jarvis (as Jackson Dover’s agent), REG (as the violence-hungry producer) and the British director Michael “Death Wish” Winner (as the pacifist director)
Calliope was produced with the assistance of many industry figures. Oscar-winning cinematographer Freddie Francis (Glory, Cape Fear) acted as the lighting consultant along with cinematographer Michael Seresin (Angel Heart, Midnight Express) for the duration of the 35mm shoot.
Calliope is a European co-production between Carl Schmitt Filmproduktion and The Royal College of Art, London in association with the German pay-TV Premiere
