How To Get Ahead In Advertising

April22

Comedy (Dennis Bagley)

REG plays advertising hotshot Dennis Bagley. He’s under so much pressure at work, and has become so cynical about his manipulative profession, that his anxiety brings forth a boil on his shoulder. It talks to him and as it grows, it gets a mind of its own and eventually becomes a second head. It’s a very weird film and is written and directed by Bruce Robinson who made Withnail And I.

Best REG line: “Ever noticed how much steam comes off peas?”

Honest, Decent And True

April22

Comedy (Moonee Livingstone)

An award winning, made for TV film and the first film REG was ever in.

The launch of Chaser Lager could be big for KFS if Alun shows some commitment; if Mike’s lifestyle doesn’t catch up with him; if the rest of the team concern themselves more with the product’s image and less with their own – they might just have a winner on their hands.

Prêt-à-Porter

April18

Prêt-à-Porter – a.k.a. Ready To Wear

Comedy (Cort Romney)

An endless string of cameos and appearances, Prêt-à-Porter is billed as an “insiders” look at the fashion industry. Written and directed by Robert Altman, this film marks the second time REG has worked with him, the first being on The Player.

REG plays outrageous fashion designer Cort Romney, who REG describes as a male Vivienne Westwood (which should tell you everything). In fact, he was outfitted for the film by Ms. Westwood herself, and is every bit as flamboyant and fabulous. This film is interesting, purely from a trainspotting point of view.

Best REG line: Pregnant is not my silhouette this season!

Richard E. Grant Tops Dr Who Poll

April6

Sky Showbiz – Wednesday 6th April, 2005

One in four Dr Who fans want to see Richard E Grant as the next Timelord.

A poll by Sky Showbiz Online revealed the Withnail & I star is the clear favourite to replace Christopher Eccleston.

Fans were rocked when Eccleston revealed last week he’s quitting the show after just one series.

He has proved a massive ratings hit – even beating Ant & Dec’s Saturday Takeaway into second place.

And fans say Grant could continue the success of Eccleston, who stars alongside former pop babe Billie Piper in the revamped sci-fi show.

Wacky comedian Eddie Izzard polled more than 19% of the votes to take second place, with Love Actually star Bill Nighy in third with 13%.

Robbie Williams was surprisingly in fourth place with Casanova star David Tennant – tipped to take over Eccleston – in fifth place.

The Office star Ricky Gervais was just behnd him with 8% and Anna Friel’s boyfriend David Thewlis was last with just over 6%.”
