Richard E. Grant is one of today’s most cherished actors who also has demonstrated enviable dexterity as a writer. With Wah-Wah, his directorial debut which coincides with his book The Wah Wah Diaries, Grant combined the two aspects of his creative life (filmmaking and writing) and used them to tell a funny and deeply moving portrait of his childhood and his love affair with Swaziland, where he was brought up during the last throes of the British Empire. He talks with Jennifer Byrne. Cost: $35/$30/$25. Bookings 9250 7777.

I’ve had one or two hiccups lately in the upgrading of the site – more with allocating time to it than anything else. Suffice to say that I’ve since scrapped the management system that I was developing in favour of a much simpler interface/program — easier for me because it’s a program I know well (WordPress), but much much easier for the other people who will be helping out in a more direct way here.
That’s not to say that all of the work that I’ve done so far in the upgrading has now gone to waste — quite the opposite in fact. Only the framework (Drupal) has been dropped. It’s hugely powerful enough for this site, but it’s just too geeky and I never did like the way it handled categories. The new WordPress-based system won’t be quite as powerful, but it’s a lot more workable.
Needless to say, a couple of days into the new “transition” and I’m about to make it live. If you’re reading this on the site now you’re reading an entirely brand new CMS generated page. Yes, The REG Temple has FINALLY made it into the new millennium — albeit 7 years after the fact!
Initially most of the pages on the site will still be plain html, but this will change over the coming weeks. Everything in the “News” section is done, though.
So if anyone has any problems with the site please bear with us. We’re working on it!
Cameron.
