Richard has appeared in over 80 films and television programs, such as Withnail And I, The Scarlet Pinmpernel, Jack & Sarah, L.A. Story, Dracula, The Hound Of The Baskervilles, Gosford Park & The Iron Lady. In 2005 he directed his first major release, Wah-Wah.

Sue W. informs me that a new film, “HangingOutHookingUpFallingInLove,” Barra Grant’s romantic comedy, has its ensemble cast set and will feature Richard E. Grant, Carrie-Anne Moss, Janeane Garofalo, Jenna Elfman, Rita Rudner, Camryn Manheim, Caroline Aaron and Johnny Pacar.
Variety reports Barra Grant will handle directing duties from her script. Brian Reilly is producing the project and Laura Hopper is executive producing the film. Shooting is scheduled to start this week in Los Angeles.
The film’s plot follows a newly separated father having to learn how to date again with help from his teenage son – who dreams of conquering one girl’s heart.

REG is to play a randy Colonel in “Garden of Eden”, based on Hemingway’s last book and starring Jack Huston and Mina Suvarri. The film will be directed by John Irvin in Spain & Kenya and a showing at the Berlin and Cannes festivals are planned for later in 2008.
Richard has also finished filming “Filth and Wisdom”, which is directed and written by Madonna, back in June. The film will have a screening at the Berlin film festival in February, before being released on the iTunes Music Store. Richard plays a blind poet based on her Chicago ballet teacher.
REG also played the father in “The Nutcracker” film which was recently shot in Budapest. The film stars Elle Fanning, John Turturro, Nathan Lane and Frances de la Tour and is directed by Andrei Konchalofsky. Basically it’s the movie version of the Nutcracker story without ballet but using Tchaikovsky score with lyrics by Tim Rice. The new film is being readied for a Christmas 2008 release.
Currently REG is shooting “Cuckoo” — a thriller playing a cardiologist who stalks a young scientist played by Laura Fraser alongside Antonia Brainath. Then REG is off to Mumbai to guest star in Sanjeev Bhaskar’s new situation comedy called “Mumbai Calling” about call centres. Richard plays a Royal Shakespeare Company actor on his uppers who is sent to train Indian telephonists how to speak English properly.
