Actor Richard E. Grant is an unlikely fan of talent shows. But the aesthete star of Withnail And I is not convinced the format is the best way to fame and fortune.
Grant, who was at the launch of British Airways’ new pop-up restaurant gallery, Flight BA2012, in Shoreditch, has been leading his own Simon Cowell-style talent search on behalf of BA to tie in with the Olympic Games.
"I like Simon and I love talent shows because it gives unknowns an opportunity. But after their 15 seconds of fame, what happens next?’ he said. ‘The spiral down can be brutal. Even for people like me, you can’t always be at the top!"
Richard's Self Portrait To Be Auctioned On eBay
As mentioned a couple of weeks ago on The Temple, REG and a bunch of equally well known celebrities, have donated self-portraits which will be auctioned on eBay from 3rd May 2012 in support of the work of The Prince's Foundation for Children & the Arts. Other celebrity artists include Adele, Derren Brown, Fearne Cotton, Brian Eno, Michael Morpurgo, Jamie Oliver, Sir Geoff Hurst, Sir Stirling Moss, Sir Cliff Richard, Alan Rickman and The Wanted amongst others.
