Six hundred guests in varying shades of pink descended on Claridge’s for Laurent-Perrier’s annual party, making the ballroom look like a candy-floss bordello.

Lashings of L-P’s famous Rose Brut were served to a crowd – including Amanda Ursell, the most beautiful nutritionist in the country, and the polymathic historian and wine expert Giles MacDonogh – whose extraordinary thirst called for more. Amber Nuttall was suitably thrilled to win a pink KitchAid mixer, customised by Rita Konig, during a raffle held in aid of the Haven Trust, but her sister might be a little upset it didn’t match their new kitchen. She was even happier to pose for photographs with the suave Richard E Grant. He drew not only the winning ticket but also several wistful glances from the female guests, who waved their pink feather boas to him in a come-hither fashion.
